11/11/11 -- 11 Tweets in 11 Minutes

Posted By on Fri, Nov 11, 2011 at 3:35 PM

Numerologists, rejoice. People are losing their minds today over the fact that it's 11/11/11, an event that happens only once every 100 years, and packs a much better palindromic punch than 9/9/09 or 10/10/10.

The date also has connections to the Mayan Apocalypse and probably some other stuff that we don't really get. But what we do know is that this allows us to write the same numeral six consecutive times -- we're easily excitable around here.

People are finding all sorts of ways to commemorate the occasion, including losing it all over again at 11:11 a.m., and treating it like a wish bank. (You are forgiven if you are turning 11 today, because that is kinda cool. The rest of you, please note that only wishing on birthday candles, eyelashes, dandelions, and falling stars works.)

But we don't want to be complete skeptics. So allow us this contribution -- 11 tweets we found within 11 minutes from around the interwebs that capture the spirit of this hallmark day. Unfortunately, they were not limited to 11 words each.

Still not sure if we can get behind a holiday that instantly reminds us we're all going to die. Therefore, Happy Nigel Tufnel Day.
