A 28-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after he was shot in the chest yesterday night as he yelled and screamed outside the suspect's house.

Police say the victim was walking down the street in the Bayview kicking garbage cans when the suspect's son told him to stop and go home. The victim went back to a house and then returned to the 1100 block of Gillman Avenue a few minutes later where he stood outside the suspect's home.

The victim was shouting and grabbing at his waistband when the suspect -- a 62-year-old man -- fired one shot, hitting the man in the chest, police said.

That's one way to get him to shut up.

Police were called to the scene, where they found a gun inside the victim's waistband. The suspect was arrested and booked into San Francisco County Jail.
