No better way for Americans to celebrate their corpulence than with an entire day of stuffing their faces at IHOP.

The kind folks over at the International House of Pancakes are giving us the opportunity to gorge on free flapjacks (wasn't it Fat Tuesday last week?) in honor National Pancake Day. And if you feel fat just reading this, IHOP has already thought of a way to clear your conscience -- clogging your arteries with buttermilk cakes will help the children.

IHOP is asking anyone who enjoys a short stack at their restaurant for free today to kick in some cash all of which will go toward helping the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in Oakland.

Last year IHOP served four 4 million free pancakes (that's 16 miles of pancakes, people) on National Pancake Day and pancake-eaters chipped in more than $2.5 million to children's charities.

Since the genius inception of National Pancake Day in 2006, IHOP has raised

nearly $8 million in exchange for more than 14 million free pancakes.

So swing by IHOP on your way to work today and pack on a few more pounds. C'mon do it for the children.
