Earlier this month, Santa Clara County dive teams called off the search for 15-year-old Sierra LaMar, who police believe was kidnapped and killed in mid-March.

Now, the dive team, which had scoured dozens of local waterways, says it will rescan the Chesbro Reservoir hoping to find some clues that will lead them to LaMar 's body. Initially, police said they would only resume searching for the girl if they received a tip; however, this rescan is not based on any new leads or information, detectives told media outlets.

Investigators "requested the dive team to conduct a re-scan ... with the new Side-Scan Sonar equipment the team recently acquired."

The search will continue through the week.

The Morgan Hill teen has been missing since March 16, when her mother last saw her getting ready for school. She was supposed to catch a bus down the street, but LaMar never made it to class.

Two months later, police arrested 21-year-old Antolin Garcia-Torres, claiming they found traces of his DNA on LaMar's clothing, which was found on the side of the road a few days after she went missing. Investigators also found traces of LaMar's DNA inside his red Jetta.

Garcis-Torres is expected to appear in court on July 31. Meanwhile, LaMar's family has increased the reward for information that will lead them to the teen
