Another San Francisco pedestrian was rushed to the hospital after being hit by a driver who then sped off, leaving the victim bleeding on the street.

According to police, the 39-year-old man was walking across the 2100 block of Market Street just after midnight today when he was hit head-on by an unknown vehicle.

After hitting the victim, the motorist kept driving northbound on Sanchez Street. The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he is suffering from life-threatening head injuries, said Officer Gordon Shyy.

Police had no information on the incident, like whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk. They also couldn't give us a good description of the suspect's vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact San Francisco Police Department's anonymous tip line at 575-4444, or Text-A-Tip to TIP411.

It's the second pedestrian who was hit in less than a week. On Saturday night, 38-year-old Edmund Capalla was killed in the Tenderloin when a taxi driver blew a red light, hitting him and another car. Capalla, a San Francisco resident, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he later died.

The taxi driver was not arrested; instead, police forwarded the case to the District Attorney's Office, which will decide whether to file charges against the San Francisco cabbie.
