Posted By on Fri, Dec 7, 2012 at 4:10 PM

Update 4:10 p.m.: The suspect finally came down from the scaffolding and was taken away in handcuffs by an ambulance. At this point, traffic is still stopped.

Update 3:35 p.m.: The suspect has been negotiating with officers, who have backed off a little. The man has climbed inside the scaffolding where he's taken a seat for now.

Original story 2:08 p.m.: Northbound traffic along the Embarcadero has stopped while officers try to cajole an assault suspect from the fifth story of a building under construction near the America's Cup building.

According to Officer Albie Esparza, about 1:25 p.m. the suspect allegedly hit and kicked two people with his skateboard before climbing three stories up the scaffolding on a building at Chestnut Street and the Embarcadero.

SF Weekly intern Coburn Palmer is at the scene and tells us the man refuses to come down and is demanding a lawyer.

The San Francisco Street Food Festival was another success this year. Dozens of vendors with original, unheard-of creations, such as deep fried mac and cheese on a stick, black pea paste pancakes, and Korean quesadillas. Then there was the comfort foods we've grown accustomed to, like creme bruleé, shrimp rolls, and pound cake. Photographs by Mabel Jimenez.
