A man attending the Oakland Raiders game last night remains hospitalized this morning after falling from a concourse at the Coliseum, authorities said.
According to the press, shortly after kickoff, about 5:30 p.m., the man, who has not been identified, climbed over the wall on the concourse outside the third deck on the side of the Coliseum that faces the Oracle Arena.
The man hung briefly from the railing, then fell to the ground 30 feet below, according to police. He was taken to Highland Hospital with serious injuries.
Although the cops believe the fall was an accident, the incident remains under investigation.
The Raiders released the following statement: "We do not yet have any information beyond that which has been publicly reported. Our thoughts and prayers are with this gentleman and his family and friends."
The last time there was a mishap at the Oakland stadium was back in 2000, when 36-year-old Shawn Stubblefield died after he fell 90 feet during a Kiss concert, the first death at the Oakland Coliseum sports complex in at least 10 years. After the incident, city officials vowed to improve security at the arena.
