San Francisco police are investigating the mysterious death of a 16-year-old girl who was found this weekend deceased on a sidewalk in the city's Bayview neighborhood.

According to Officer Gordon Shyy, police found the girl -- who has been identified as Jaynice Johnson -- unresponsive on the sidewalk at Jennings Street and Quesada Avenue on Sunday about 12:45 p.m. Paramedics attempted CPR while police were dispatched to the girl's home.

When officers arrived, they saw the conditions of her home and determined there had been some abuse. They also detained a possible suspect, only identified as a 46-year-old man.

SFPD had no more information at this time.
