An unidentified pedestrian was hit and killed by a southbound Caltrain this morning.

According to Caltrain, the incident happened at about 5:20 a.m. when the #102 train struck a person who was on the tracks between Linden and Scott streets, a mile north of the San Bruno station.

The northbound train #313, which was scheduled to leave San Jose at 6:45 a.m., was canceled and other trains were stopped until about 7 a.m. However, as of now, trains are moving slowly, about 30 miles per hour, so expect delays through the morning.

Per the transit agency:

Caltrain apologizes to our riders for any inconvenience caused by this morning's tragic fatality. No matter what the circumstances, any fatality is regrettable. The cause of this incident is under investigation.

This is the eighth pedestrian fatality on the tracks this year. On Friday, a pedestrian was killed on the tracks in Burlingame.
