Now that gay marriage is legal in California, LGBT families have much to smile about. So why not document just how damn happy and in love you are?
The Harvey Milk Photo Center is asking photographers (of all levels) to submit LGBT family photos for an upcoming exhibit titled "Celebrating Our Chosen & Extended Families."
Here's how the folks over at the Harvey Milk Center explained it:
Harvey Milk Photo Center is inviting amateur and professional photographers to submit photos representing the many facets and forms of family within the Bay Area LGBT community. A variety of family units, such as those consisting of parents and children, significant others, friends, extended family members, and pets, will be showcased in this exhibition. Snapshots welcome!
We are seeking photos that are digital or film, color or black and white, vintage or current, candid or posed, and that include whole families or just a few members at a time. We welcome all ages and skill levels to submit, including kids, teens, adults, and seniors. Participants are also required to include a brief description (up to 250 words) about their families. Final selection of images will be at the discretion of San Francisco Recreation & Parks.
All you have to do is gather up your family, snap some shots and send over between five and 10 images electronically or in person. You must include a brief family story, 250 words or less. Don't forget to include your full name, phone number, and email address with your submission. Photos must be in by Saturday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. sharp.
Email: Send JPEGs that are between 500 and 1000 pixels on the longest side to email@example.com.
Mail/In-Person: Send or deliver hard copy images, to Harvey Milk Photo Center, 50 Scott St (at Duboce), San Francisco, CA, 94117.
