Update 8:30 a.m.: Good news: The kid was located and is back behind bars, according to Officer Gordon Shyy.

Original Story 6:37 a.m.: San Francisco police spent their evening yesterday scouring the city to find a 17-year-old boy who somehow managed to escape from juvenile hall.

Police didn't have too many details about how the kid got loose, but Officer Gordon Shyy said he slipped away from the San Francisco's Juvenile Justice Center, located at 375 Woodside Ave., sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday.

No word on whether the fugitive has been found as of this morning.

This isn't the first time as of late that child inmates have left the building. Back in April, a 12-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy broke out of jail through a 1-foot-square window; they had smashed the window with a metal room fixture that they pried from the wall. The kids squeezed through the window opening into the outdoor fenced area. A day later, police found the 12-year-old fugitive at his home. He later told police that juvenile jail was no place for a growing kid to be.

Oh, and let's not forget about the woman who houdinied her way out of handcuffs while at the police station back in October. She just wiggled her way out of the cuffs and walked out, as if she had never done anything wrong.
