So double up on that Prozac and put on your best fake smile.

After you pull yourself together, head down to Union Square and gather with other cheery people to express how unbelievably happy you are on the "Happiness Wall." It's exactly what it sounds like: a wall where you scribble down at least one thing that makes you happy.

If you can't think of anything that brings you joy, then today is the time to do something that will bring you joy, like multiple scoops of ice cream, ice skating, or a group hug.

If you have been too busy wallowing in your depression the last few years, then all this is probably news to you: The General Assembly of the United Nations declared March 20 the International Day of Happiness with the goal of making it the happiest day on record.

This is serious. Here's the UN's text of the happiness resolution:

Conscious that the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal, Recognizing the relevance of happiness and well-being as universal goals and aspirations in the lives of human beings around the world and the importance of their recognition in public policy objectives...Decides to proclaim 20 March the International Day of Happiness, Invites all Member States, organizations of the United Nations system and other international and regional organizations, as well as civil society, including non-governmental organizations and individuals, to observe the International Day of Happiness in an appropriate manner, including through education and public awareness-raising activities.

San Francisco is one of the 20 cities hosting a Happiness Wall, where residents can pledge and or share their acts of happiness from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. The wall is located at 333 Grant Street in Union Square. There's also the virtual Happiness Wall that can be shared via Facebook, Instagram, or whatever social media makes you smile.

Incidentally, today is the first day of Spring, and that makes us happy.
