Original story (7 a.m.): The man who was killed in Bernal Heights Friday night by a group of police officers has been identified as 28-year-old Alejandro Nieto of San Francisco.

On Friday at about 7 p.m., officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a man with a gun at Bernal Heights Park. When officers arrived, they spotted the man with his weapon. According to police, the man drew his gun, and officers began shooting at Nieto, says Sgt. Danielle Newman.

Nieto died at the scene. Police say they found an additional weapon at the scene.

Nieto's family told ABC News that Nieto was mentally ill and he had been carrying a Taser that night, not a gun, however, police have not confirmed that information.

The whole incident freaked out neighbors, many of whom heard the fatal gunshots.

Police had no new information as of Monday morning. However, Police Chief Greg Suhr plans to hold a community town hall meeting this week to talk about the shooting.
