Local artist Andres Amador descended upon Ocean Beach this weekend where he awed crowds of onlookers with his latest playa painting.
Using his traditional supplies -- a rake and the sand as his canvas -- Amador was reportedly making this latest piece as part of a documentary. We spotted the amazing images of his artwork today on Richmondsfblog.com. Check them out:
From his website:
A gorgeous morning in SF and the largest crowd I have yet had witness me in action. At one point I heard a loud ruckus from above and looked up to see that a jogger and her dog had run through the piece and was being loudly boo'ed. I have long ago stopped stressing about clueless beach goers trampling the canvas. But I must admit it felt vindicating- that others were feeling protective of what I was making.
If you've never seen him in action, here's your chance:
And if you aspire to draw something a little more prestigious than your name in the sand, feel free to attend Amador's next workshop in San Francisco on May 5 where he'll teach you everything from crop circles to sand doodles.
