The feds are on the hunt for some drug runners who reportedly abandoned their marijuana-filled vessel along the San Mateo County shoreline sometime this morning.

According to press reports, police stumbled upon a Chevrolet suburban with a 30-foot boat hitched to the back at Pescadero State Beach just before 8 this morning. Inside the vessel were 42 bales of pot, weighing about 1,000 pounds in total.

Homeland Security officials confirmed that the boat had been used to cart drugs from Mexico.

Andrew Munoz, a spokesman for Homeland Security, said it appeared that the drug runners were loading the pot into the van when it became stuck in the sand. The traffickers probably panicked and ditched the boat, car, and pot right there on the beach.

Police have not located any suspects as of Monday afternoon.
