Remember baseball games in Candlestick Park? No? Well, that's not going to stop us from telling you about it.

The weather was wretched, the accommodations were dismal, the concession fare was dire, the crowds were mercurial, the location was remote, and the baseball was, all too often, heartbreaking.

That, young feller, is the furnace in which your elder Giants fans were forged. And that is why, so often, watching superior teams in a gorgeous, transit-centric, privately financed stadium can induce counterintuitive feelings of annoyance and even anger. San Francisco Giants fans, like so many San Franciscans, are enjoying the good times without the context of prior bad times. Or prior anything.

Also, Sunday's game at AT&T Park vs. the New York Mets is Hello Kitty Day.

We are not making this up.

In short, attendees at Sunday's game may receive a Hello Kitty plush doll and/or Hello Kitty bobblehead. Per the team, "Various pre-game and in-game components will be themed around Hello Kitty" -- thereby ensuring an existential crisis for many a fan who realizes that this is the price to pay for enjoying a placid, sunny, successful, Candy Maldonado-free environment.

Goodbye Candlestick, Hello Kitty.

Oh, but wait. There's more.

Those willing to put out for the Hello Kitty VIP experience are invited to a pregame Hello Kitty soiree featuring complimentary booze (a salve; a necessity) and the opportunity to witness "a baseball setting that Hello Kitty herself would play in! After all, Hello Kitty will be in attendance at this pre-game VIP event -- her first ever Giants appearance!"
