Two women were attacked on Pink Saturday in what police are saying is a possible hate crime.

At about 5:33 p.m., a 24-year-old woman and a 27-year-old woman were walking south along Ninth Street near Mission Street when a group of six men approached and began kicking and punching them.

One of the suspects made a homophobic comment before fleeing the scene, says Officer Albie Esparza.

Both the victims were taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where one was treated for a broken wrist and the other was treated for a head abrasion.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call SFPD at (415) 575-4444.

The San Francisco Street Food Festival was another success this year. Dozens of vendors with original, unheard-of creations, such as deep fried mac and cheese on a stick, black pea paste pancakes, and Korean quesadillas. Then there was the comfort foods we've grown accustomed to, like creme bruleé, shrimp rolls, and pound cake. Photographs by Mabel Jimenez.
