Police are at the scene of a shooting in SoMa where an unidentified person was killed early this morning, marking the third homicide in less than a week.
Sgt. Danielle Newman says that at about 5:12 a.m., police got a 911 call for help at the intersection of Sixth and Harrison streets. When they arrived, there was no victim to be found.
Not long after police left the scene, a victim showed up at San Francisco General Hospital where he/she was pronounced dead.
"This appears to have been a shooting and homicide investigators are responding," Newman says.
No further information was available at this time.
It's the third homicide in San Francisco this week -- and 13 this summer. On Friday morning, 40-year-old Matt Sheahan was stabbed to death in a hotel room in the Tenderloin. Police arrested 30-year-old Lisa Heng on suspicion of murder.
The following morning, 28-year-old Benjamin Martinez who was gunned down early in the city's Potrero Hill neighborhood. No suspect has been identified.
