The San Francisco Police Department reports that a man in his 50s was killed in a collision with a car on Tuesday evening around 5:30 p.m., near the intersection of Alemany Boulevard and Silver Avenue, a couple blocks from the Glen Park BART station.

According to the police’s report, the cyclist was transported to the hospital, but passed away from his injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, and is cooperating with the investigation.

This incident marks the second cyclist fatality on San Francisco’s streets in 2017. On April 28, 25-year-old Gashaw Clark died after colliding with a car in an intersection in Mission Bay.

“Our hearts are heavy this morning, and our thoughts are with family and friends of the victim,” the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition tweeted this morning.

Update, 4:50 p.m.: The victim has been identified as Moises Chavez, 51.
