Individual Fundraising Campaigns Established for Oakland Fire Victims

(Aleah Fajardo/ Special to S.F. Examiner)

Friday’s horrific fire at the Ghost Ship warehouse in Oakland has left us reeling. Stay tuned for a story on the talented artists and musicians who lost their lives coming out in Thursday’s edition of SF Weekly.

In the meantime, there are innumerable ways to help, including fundraisers established by Gray Area Foundation For The Arts and Oakland Athletics. But if you knew any of the victims yourself, or wanted to contribute to an individual campaign, those have been created too. Here is a list of the personal fundraisers we’ve come across so far:

Michela Angelina Gregory lost her life in the fire. $5,000 is being raised to support her family.

Alex Vega passed away in the fire. A $20,000 fundraiser was created by Alex’s brother to help his family handle future expenses.

Alex F. Ghassan was a father to two and a much loved son. $50,000 is being raised to support his family.

Andrew Ruiz lived at Ghost Ship, and lost all of his belongings in the fire. His mother established this fundraiser for him, asking for $10,000 to help him recover.

Sara Hoda, a teacher, passed away in the fire. $10,000 is being raised for her mother.

$10,000 is being fundraised for David Cline’s funeral costs and family.

Lilo (last name not available) lost everything in the fire. Her friends are asking for $10,000 to help her recover after the tragedy.

Jose Alvarez managed to escape Ghost Ship with his two dogs, but lost all of his belongings. Friends and family are asking for $20,000 in donations to help him in the wake of the tragedy.

Travis Hough was killed at Ghost Ship on Friday night. $20,000 is being raised to pay for his service, as well as transportation and time off work for his family members.

Benny Langfur had moved into Ghost Ship only two weeks ago, according to a $5,500 fundraiser organized by two of his friends to help him replace his belongings.

$20,000 is being raised for the partner of Chelsea Faith, also known by her stage name Cherushii.

Bauman College and Highwire Coffee are partnering to raise $6,000 for the family of Donna Kellogg, who was killed in the fire.

Money is being raised to send the ashes of Chase “Nex Iuguolo” back to his home of Nicaragua.

A $10,000 fundraiser has been set up for the sister, partner and family of Griffin Madden, who lost his life in the Ghost Ship fire.

A $7,500 memorial fund has been established for Ara Jo, who was also killed in the warehouse fire.

$20,000 is being collected by Amanda Kershaw’s husband to help fly family out from the East Coast, and provide a funeral and memorial.

$20,000 is being raised for a funeral and memorial for Vanessa Plotkin.

Another Ghost Ship resident, David Calvera (photo unavailable), was at work when the fire broke out but lost everything he owned. $5,000 is being fundraised for him by his cousin.
