Brewster Kahle

Fortune seems to turn overnight for Bitcoin, the once-promising digital currency that ballooned in January, plummeted in March, and still retained a stalwart following in San Francisco. Through it all, Internet Archive founder Brewster Kahle never lost faith. He still accepts Bitcoin payments for the Archive's affordable housing complex, still pays some of his employees in digital tender, and still buys Bento boxes from a Bitcoin-friendly sushi restaurant near the Richmond District. Even after a large exchange sputtered in Tokyo, Kahle went to bat for the embattled currency. If it can withstand these stresses, he insists, it'll come out stronger. He'll trade a little hipster cachet for a healthy transaction system.
