It's one in the morning, you've been slamming a questionable mixture of drinks for hours, and you need to lay down a solid pavement of beans, cheese, and rice in your gut. Can-Cún not only stays open until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, it also serves an irrefutably delicious burrito. A burrito of the “regular” variety ($4.99) nets you perfectly seasoned tender meat, rice, beans, onions, tangy salsa, and cilantro applied with a heavy hand. The cheese is perfectly distributed and melty, never clumpy. The best part: The tortilla is expertly toasted and flaky, with just the upper part a little crunchy, so that first bite is substantial and crackling. Can-Cún offers eight meat options, with regulars swearing by the carne asada and the more adventurous ordering juicy cubes of lengua (tongue). For just a buck more, an enormous superburrito is stuffed with the aforementioned ingredients in addition to huge chunks of always-fresh avocado and generous dollops of sour cream. This is a six-dollar meal you can eat for two days. Oh, and a veggie burrito? It's the non-health-nut vegetarian's dream come true: the same price as a regular, with all the ingredients of the super, hold the meat, and none of those undercooked random vegetables you find at other joints.
