If you’ve driven, walked, or biked past 16th and Sanchez streets in the past 48 hours chances are you’ve run straight into a massive movie set. Lexi, a new comedy directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (both of The Hangover, Bad Moms, and 21 and Over), will be filming across the city for at least the next two weeks. The CBS-produced film stars Adam Devine, Wanda Sykes, Rose Byrne, Justin Hartley, Alexandra Shipp, and Michael Pena.
Details on the plot are scarce, but entertainment sites like Variety claim the movie stars Devine as a man who falls in love with artificial intelligence character Lexi (voiced by Byrne) on his smart device. IMDB calls it “a comedy about what can happen when you love your phone more than anything else in your life,” which is something we’ve probably all feared at some point.
Sanchez Street between 16th and 15th streets was blocked off to vehicle traffic on Wednesday, and those with a keen eye will have noticed another transformation: MASH, the designer fixie bike store, has been transformed into “Fog City Bicycles.”
While streets shut down for filming should allow pedestrians and bikes to pass through (with short holds for shots), it may be best to avoid the set altogether if you’re in a rush to get somewhere. While Fulton Street is their base camp, the shoot will take place all over San Francisco. The locations and times approved by the city over the next few weeks are as follows:
