Geoff Chadsey Exposes Private Horror in 'shift, return' at Electric Works

On Your Lunch Break
SF Weekly recommends exhibitions and locations around San Francisco to check out when you have half an hour to spare.

Geoff Chadsey's exhibition, “shift, return,” at Electric Works is up through Saturday, and it's worth stopping by if you haven't already. Chadsey examines gay life in his portraits, especially its enigmas and fears. Unlike the fiercely graphic homoerotic scenes photographed by, say, Robert Mapplethorpe or the exaggerated clone-like men drawn by Tom of Finland, Chadsey renders people you might know — including some of their intensely private (and sometimes horrific) moments you might not know.
