A Celebration in Honor of Ratification: The Anniversary of the Repeal of Prohibition

Celebrating the End of Prohibition

Where: The Royal Exchange (301 Sacramento St.)

When: Wednesday, December 5 from 2-9:30 p.m.

Why: Because you are no longer required to be sober by law.

The rundown: On December 5, 1933, the passage of the Twenty-first Amendment to the United States Constitution led to the repeal of Prohibition. Proponents of prohibition believed that banning alcoholic beverages would reduce or eliminate crime, mental illness, and social problems, though alcohol obviously continued to be produced and consumed during the ban on booze, albeit illegally. So, where can you celebrate your freedom to drink this December 5?
