Well, that was quick. Not two weeks after SFoodie editor John Birdsall announced Ashbury Market's call for street-food vendors to cook and sell out of its kitchen, two have stepped up to answer. Mike Christie of SF Delicious, a duo that caters and has recently stepped out into the pavement-cuisine arena, has begun offering takeaway dinners there on Thursdays, 5-8 p.m.
“It's healthy and nutritious,” Christie explained. “Simple, clean flavors, yet it has a touch of elegance that sets it a bit above normal home cooking, and most any takeout. It's the kind of dinner that we make for ourselves when we cook on an average night at home.”
Simplicity isn't a hard and fast rule for SF Delicious, especially if customers appear to want to be more adventurous. Considering that SF Delicious has been tweeting about a French taco made with foie gras, the possibilities for experimentation are there.
