What would happen if there was a farmers' market and nobody showed up?
That's sort of what happened last Saturday, when a first-ever market debuted at the Cow Palace, with just about zero fanfare. Organizer Ron Pardini, executive director of Fremont-based Urban Village Farmers' Market Association, declared the turnout lighter than he expected. “We hope that the community would support it,” Pardini says. He's taking out ads in Asian American newspapers to try to boost attendance this weekend.
