DOSA Rolls Out Late-Night Happy Hour

, which singlehandedly brought South Indian food to San Francisco’s attention, is now charting new territory with a late-night happy hour menu. From 9-11 p.m. on weeknights and 9 p.m. – midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, you can dig into Chennai chicken and vada pav vegetarian sliders with a fancy cocktail in your other hand. (Is this an acculturation or an assimilation? Who cares, it sounds rad.)

[jump] Everything on the new menu is $9 or under, including idli fries (steamed rice rubbed in powdered lentils and spices, and served with roasted chili-garlic and sweet onion chutneys) and dahi vada (lentil dumplings, topped with Straus organic yogurt, tamarind, and mint), along with that killer pappadum and chutney sampler.

Wines are only $7 a glass, and if you’d like an $8 cocktail, there’s the Bengali Gimlet (Tanqueray Rangpur Gin, curried nectar, and lime) and the Ginger Ante (Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, ginger-jaggery nectar, lime, and ginger ale).

Oh, and by the way, this goes for both locations, Valencia and Fillmore, and applies to the standard 5-7 p.m. happy hour as well. (Kinda makes those “dollar oysters from 5:15-5:45 on every third Monday” places look like real cheapskates.)

DOSA Fillmore, 1700 Fillmore, 415-441-3672.
DOSA Valencia, 995 Valencia, 415-642-3672.
