Not everything makes it to its fifth anniversary. Neither the Carter Administration nor the Battlestar Galactica reboot did, and only two of Elizabeth Taylor’s eight marriages got much farther. So we announce with great fanfare that Off the Grid is about to celebrate its fifth anniversary tomorrow, Friday, June 26 (although the very first market was exactly five years ago today). Good job, y’all!
Among the trucks, the chow convoy includes classics like Curry Up Now, Bacon Bacon, Señor Sisig, and the Chairman, as well as lesser-known-but-still-utterly-delicious Johnny Donuts, T. Epiphany, Drewski’s and more. For the tents, there will be Burma Bear, Frita’s Shack, Rocko’s Chocolate Tacos, Bok Sam and many others.
After five years, that’s a lot of miles on Sue the Box Truck, a lot of bacon-flavored things, and a hell of a lot of composted forks. Since 2010, Off the Grid has expanded to 43 weekly markets from here to San Jose. (Not for nothing do they have more than 44,000 users on the app.) Congratulations on all your hard work, and let’s start munching, hmm?
Off the Grid’s Fifth Anniversary Party, Friday, June 26, 5-10 p.m., at OTG: Fort Mason Center, 2 Marina Blvd.
