Favorite tastes from SFoodie and the world beyond:
1. Beer week! Beer week! Beer week! Between the bajillion tastings being held around the Bay and Super Bowl Sunday, your tolerance should be at record levels ― just in time for Mardi Gras.
2. Two food stands/carts to look for this spring: Pica Pica's arepas in the Mission and Richie Nakano's porklicious ramen with a sous-vide egg at the Ferry Plaza.
3. Mission Street Food's Anthony Myint hasn't stopped rewriting the rules of restaurant ownership: The pop-up restaurateur's trying to go permanent, raising the cash through cloud investing. That he's already raised $22K for charity's remarkable, too.
4. John Birdsall had an extra bag of Who's Your Daddy bacon chips sitting on his desk after writing up a SFoodie's 92 post about them. Soon he didn't. Planning on calling in sick the day he decides to write about Dynamo Donuts.
5. Bite o' the Week: Tried for the first time the gorgeous North Coast Le Merle, a saison-style beer from Fort Bragg. It was ripe, round, yet clean enough to keep drinking all the way from aperitif to dessert.
