Banks White is in at The Keystone (68 Fourth Street), and according to Eater, his new brunch-and-dinner menu combines Southeast Asia with the American South. Look for dishes like Thai-style fried chicken, savory Korean pancakes, and a Malaysian roti flatbread with herbed tamarind brown butter, and coconut curry sauce.
Take a Cebiche Class at La Mar This Sunday
Chef Danny Kou of La Mar Cebicheria (Pier 1.5/The Embarcadero) is teaching a cebiche-making class this Sunday, May 29 at 11 a.m. The 90-minute crash course will provide all the basics of the citrus-cured fish dish (as well as the difference between ceviche and cebiche), and you'll learn to make three types: a classic variety with leche de tigre, a vegetarian version, and a third with salmon, avocado, and jalapeño.

The Examiner's Joe Fitz Rodriguez reported that Larry Mitchell has passed away. Having founded Mitchell's Ice Cream (688 San Jose Ave.) in 1953 with his brother, he stuck around until retiring at 87. He'd been there since mangoes were an exotic flavor.
