Pickle-Making Class Promises a Cure for the Summer Blahs

What's the dill-io?

If you missed the recent sold-out kombucha-making event at the Women's Building, you've got another chance to learn how to perfect your own cured and fermented goodies. On Sunday, July 17, Urban Kitchen SF and Happy Girl Kitchen Co. are organizing Pickling by the Bay, a hands-on pickle-making class steeped in the DIY spirit of Slow Food. Prepping, pickling, and partying (!!) are promised, as well as music and refreshments. We [heart] the idea of the event's expected “friendly vibe” (is there a possibility it could be unfriendly?), which makes any event more relaxing and fun. Expect ample dishin' on pickling history and plenty of how-to tips. Participants will get to take home their own pickling starter kit and pickled efforts. The two-hour class starts at 7 p.m. at Shelton Studios, located on historic Pier 26 just blocks from Ferry Plaza. Tickets are $48. Sliding-scale pricing is available, but you'll have to email registration@urbankitchensf.com.
