Pizza Parlor Transforms Into Pop-Up Bar with Homemade Snacks and Really Cheap Drinks

Debbie Horn is probably the coolest woman we have never met. Two months ago, she convinced her friend and owner of Escape From New York Pizza on Bush Street to transform his pizza parlor to a nighttime pop-up bar, called After Hours Bar.

Horn constructed a bar around the counter of the pizza place and started a batch of homemade sangria to serve to her group of friends.

Guests started calling it King Kong Bar in honor of the restaurant's decor, which features a gorilla hanging over a massive skyscraper. Horn stands beneath it while mixing her “really cheap” drinks ($3 to $4 wells). A few weeks after opening, Horn accepted the inevitable, and started calling it King Kong Bar, too.
