Plantains and black beans are quintessential side-dish stalwarts, but at the week-old Noe Valley outpost of the Little Chihuahua ― just like at its sibling on Divis ― sweet, mellow grilled plantains and syrupy black beans are wrapped up with rice, roasted red peppers, diced tomato, and chopped cilantro in arguably the city's best veggie burrito. It's a decidedly refreshing take on that business-as-usual grilled veggie or plain tofu bean bomb that, at any other burrito joint, is a vegetarian's only option (a nod here to Papalote's Soyrizo exception). Plus its hunky, starch-on-starch action makes Chihuahua's plantain and black bean mashup a guarantee of long-term lunch satiety. And if it starts to cloy before you manage to finish, you can always perk up your palate with some fruity habanero heat from the self-serve salsa bar. Trust us, a little perking up goes a long way.
