Plum Announces an Opening Date (Soon), La Rondalla Resurfaces (Later)

The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the

San Francisco restaurant scene.

At Inside Scoop, Paolo L. reports that Daniel Patterson's Plum (2214 Broadway, 510-444-7586, www.plumoakland.com) is opening next Wednesday — and has just started taking reservations. If you remember, Ubuntu's former chef, Jeremy Fox, was going to be the chef, then side-stepped the project a few weeks ago. Now Il Cane Rosso's Lauren Kiino will be the opening chef, with Bill Corbett overseeing desserts and Scott Beattie taking on the adjacent cocktail bar, which will open next year. The pitch: 48-seat restaurant with under-$20 entrees, dishes like lamb-neck stew with brain mayonnaise and grilled lamb's tongue, and a $45 tasting menu. Oh, and a burger. Lord knows, even Daniel Patterson can't open a bistro in this area without including a burger.
From Grub Street (and everyone else): Ike's Place reopens. In Lime (2247 Market). From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mon.-Sat.
