Six-Month-Old Union Square Seafood Spot Ayala Opens a Cafe

The zero-waste Café by Ayala will serve Intelligentsia Coffee and pastries from Black Jet Baking Co.

The nori spaghettini at Melissa Perfit’s superb Ayala won a nod in SF Weekly‘s Best Of 2019 issue, and now the seafood-and-pasta restaurant inside Union Square’s Hotel G has announced a new addition, opening daily from 7 to 11 a.m.

Café by Ayala is a quick-service spinoff across the lobby with “Poptarts” and other baked goods by Black Jet Baking Co. and coffee from Intelligentsia, which represents the Chicago roastery’s first brick-and-mortar location in S.F. With room for up to 30 people, it’s a place for cold brew and some of Black Jet’s pretzel rolls, sweet or savory croissants, and plenty of brownies and bars.
