Starbucks Poised to Unveil Big Gulp-Size 'Trenta'

Starbucks fans will soon be able to show just how much they love the iced tea and coffee drinks from the Seattle chain. Starting next month, Starbucks stores in California will are unleashing the Trenta, a new 31-ounce cup a hair shy of 7-Eleven's Big Gulp.

Reuters is reporting that Starbucks will roll out the Trenta nationwide in May, though 14 states are getting an early jump this month. California stores are slated to roll out the Trenta on Feb. 1. Reuters:

The new size will be available only for iced coffee, iced tea and iced tea lemonade drinks in the United States. The Trenta is 7 ounces larger than Starbucks' “Venti” cup for iced drinks, which currently is its largest size on offer.

Trenta drinks will cost 50 cents more than Venti ones, Starbucks says. It adds that the bump-up to 31 ounces will add fewer than 90 calories to the total load, though with sweetened drinks the additional calories will come in at fewer than 230. Starbucks says the new size is a response to customer demand.
