On Wednesday, we previewed Sunday's launch of the shiny new Fort Mason Center farmers' market. The organizer ― the California Farmers' Market Association ― is offering more details about the Marina startup. Turns out executive chef Annie Somerville of nearby Greens is planning a cookbook signing, and ― if you're all into ceremonialism ― you'll want to know about the 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting. Us, we're more into sourcing than ceremony. Among the market's standout vendors (there are more than 40, the CFMA says) are Scream Sorbet (scooping special flavors beet-lemon and sugar snap pea for the occasion), Kashiwase (just in time for stone-fruit season), and the reliably excellent Happy Boy Farms. Greens will be selling vegetarian prepared foods, too. We're sensing something altogether grander than your typical neighborhood market.
