If you're like us, you grew up in a world where soup came fully articulated in cans ― apart from opening and heating, a completely passive exercise. By contrast, Nopalito's caldo Tlalpeño is all about participation: squeezing lime into the chicken broth, avocado, and vegetables, and ― with the back of your spoon ― smashing the dried chipotle adovado chile lurking in the bottom to release its smoky piquancy. Delicious. And a total workout.
