WEDNESDAY: Join Two Dozen Women Chefs and Bartenders at CUESA

The Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture partners with the USBG for "Women Movers & Shakers: Spring Cocktails of the Farmers Market."

If you’ve eaten anything around town lately, you know that citrus has been banished to the netherworld and there are fresh peas in their place. In fact, light green things that haven’t been preserved or fermented in the slightest are kind of everywhere. To hammer home the point that it really is spring and the engines of California agriculture are revving up, CUESA (the Center for Urban Education About Sustainable Agriculture) is hosting its annual cocktail party,  Women Movers & Shakers: Spring Cocktails of the Farmers Market at the Ferry Building this Wednesday, April 18.

Of course, the equally salient point to it being a season of bounty is that the women-led nonprofit has assembled an outstanding, all-women lineup of 12 bartenders and 10 chefs, plus women farmers as well. Having collaborated with the US Bartenders Guild for 10 years, it’s perfectly of a piece with CUESA’s mission to get city dwellers conversant with Northern California’s food-shed — and the proceeds support the San Francisco chapter of the USBG’s professional development work.
