Wednesday Seven: Pork Belly Dishes for Pork Belly Art

Plus two new breweries open up — one in Bernal Heights, the other in Temescal — and Three Twins is giving away free ice cream next Thursday, June 23!

[jump] Free Three Twins Ice Cream Alert!
Since haranguing and hectoring proved unpopular alternatives, Three Twins Ice Cream has decided to combat the gruesome events in Orlando with a free ice cream giveaway. On Thursday, June 23, you can get a free scoop at all four Bay Area locations from 6 p.m. until closing.

Barebottle Brewing Opens in Bernal Heights
The opening party is, well, right now, but Bernalwood reported that Barebottle Brewing Co. is now open in a former granite-cutting warehouse at 1525 Cortland Avenue on the eastern flank of Bernal Heights. The trio of dudes behind it is brewing some hyper-local beers, like a Bernal Saison that's “free-fermented at Bernal Heights temperatures,” a Muir Woods-inspired IPA, and a Honey Brown made with “120 pounds our head brewer’s wildflower honey.” Sounds legit.

Meanwhile, Temescal Brewing Company Is Open on Telegraph Avenue

Inside Scoop reports that Temescal Brewing Company (4115 Telegraph) opened over the weekend, and (wisely, IMO) decided against replicating the industrial feel of most microbreweries, creating a “light-filled, 35-seat interior taproom” plus an outdoor beer garden. As they get settled, Temescal will have six to eight beers on tap along with fresh popcorn and an array of food trucks.

Anchor Brewing's Firkin Friday Resumes June 17
Firkin Friday is back! At 5:30 p.m. this Friday, the brewery will tap a limited-edition Anchor Coffee Porter (which is cask-conditioned with cold-brew coffee) at their beer garden at The Yard (100 Terry A. Francois Blvd.)

1,000 People Want the Riptide to Come Back Like It Was
SFist reports that The Riptide (3639 Taraval), which is set to return after a fire all but destroyed it last year, does not appear to have been grandfathered into a sort of pre-Entertainment Commission handshake agreement of sorts where venues at the address were allowed to have live music. To make the new Riptide just as good as the old, some 1,000 fans have written in urging the city to make it so. Heartwarming!

Pork Belly Art Is Happening at the Asian Museum, So Naturally Chefs Followed
To honor a pork belly carved from jasper that's part of the exhibit “Emperors Treasures” at the Asian Art Museum, 12 San Francisco chefs have created tribute dishes, including Dennis Lee of Namu, Brandon Jew of Mister Jiu's, and Eric Ehler of Black Sands. Priceless Pork Belly, Plated runs June 17-July 17, so you have just about a month to eat your way through this one.
