What to Have for Lunch Today: Classic Philly Cheesesteak from Phat Philly

Mon., April 12, 2010

Phat Philly's appropriately phat (and fattening) sandwich brings thin slices of American Kobe beef blanketed with a rich house-made cheddar and Newcastle Brown Ale sauce ― an improved version of the pump-cheese sauce you no doubt gobbled with nachos and hot dogs all through high school (Cheez Whiz is an option in case you just can't shake that cafeteria palate). A variety of sweet and hot peppers spices things up. Dip an order of Criss-Cut waffle fries in cheese sauce for a decadent add-on ― blend ketchup with the cheese sauce to achieve acidic balance. When you find yourself using hunks of the sandwich's soft Amoroso roll as a sauce vehicle, it's a sure sign it's time to get back to the office.
