My Top 20 Songs From 2016

Our music editor shares her favorite ditties of the year, with picks from Flume, Burna Boy, Bonobo, Banks, Young Thug, Blood Orange, and more.

There are a lot of perks to being music editor, one of them being that I get to unabashedly publish my favorite songs of 2016 (hehe).

In the last year, my music tastes have expanded enormously, and though I was once a self-proclaimed hip-hop head, I think I’d rather be called a chameleon now. There were a lot of amazing tracks that came out this year, and the ones that made it in my Top 20 are plucked from a range of genres, including electronic, hip-hop, R&B, experimental, dancehall, punk, folk, and admittedly, even a bit of pop.

You’ll probably recognize a lot of names (like Kanye West, Drake, Young Thug, and Flume), but there are also a slew of lesser known and up-and-coming artists, that hopefully will become your new favorite acts.

So without further ado, here is my very biased list of my very favorite songs of 2016 (arranged in no particular order):
