Expect a Hip-Hop Overdose at Saturday’s Thizzler Jam

If you consider yourself a hip-hop head (and even if you don’t), chances are you know of Thizzler On The Roof. Since 2009, the Bay Area hip-hop platform has given shine to local artists through its website, monthly mixtapes, and annual Freshman 10 competition. And now, for the second year in a row, Thizzler is helping out MCs in another way with Thizzler Jam, a multi-act day party at New Parish in Oakland.

“With Thizzler Jam, the fans can see their favorite Bay artists while learning about new ones, all in a positive, safe space,” founder Matt Werner says. “Our goal is to create opportunities for talented local artists to get exposure and reach new fans.”

This year’s festivities, held on Saturday, Sept. 17, will feature two stages — one inside and one outside — and a range of established and on-the-rise artists, including Lil Debbie, Ezale, Young Gully, Keak Da Sneak, Willie Joe, Lil Yase, and “hella surprise guests.” For a mere $30, you can bask in five straight hours of rap — be it old-school, hyphy, mob, trap, or who knows what — and hopefully, by the event’s end, you’ll leave with a handful of new favorites.

Catch Thizzler Jam from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17 at New Parish. More info here
