Update: An earlier version of this post repeated a claim about the Chapel’s scheduling that the venue says is categorically false.
San Francisco’s Midtown Social knows how to make lively, feel-good jams. “It’s Alright,” premiered today, is a textured, party track from the nine-piece band’s upcoming self-titled debut album.
Filled with funky horns, disco inflections, and lung-busting vocals, the song chronicles a relationship, from its flirty first moments to the end when one of the lovers wants to get out.
“I wrote it about the feeling of desperation when you’re trying to convince someone who’s playing with your emotions to be with you,” says the band’s vocalist Kisura Nyoto.
Catch Midtown Social at 9 p.m., Saturday, April 15, at Mezzanine. More info here.
