The Queen of Hip-Hop is coming to Oakland and we're in for a real treat here. Legendary Philly MC Bahamadia's signature monotone flow was an essential part of the underground hip-hop movement with her 1996 debut LP Kollage and then on timeless tracks with The Roots (“Push Up Ya Lighter”), Guru's Jazzmatazz (“Respect the Architect”) and Talib Kweli (“Chaos.”) She kept it going on her life-changing 2000 EP, BB Queen, where the drum-and-bass fusion masterpiece “Pep Talk” is still one of finest displays of lyrical mastery that hip-hop has ever heard. She'll be gracing the Bay Area with a set at Oakland's New Parish on the heels of her latest single “We Here” on B-Girl Freedom Records. She's still got that sick BB Queen flow, and this'll be an extra-special show for hip-hop heads as she's joined by Stones Throw's MC Dudley Perkins and singer Georgia Anne Muldrow along with ex-Lootpack collaborator Kankick.
