East Bay funk masters Bear Lincoln have flexed their muscles on a new release and are throwing a party to celebrate.
Bare Lincoln, which features the infectious “Revival,” builds on the bands' previous recordings and conveys the inexhaustible atmosphere of elation that hangs over their live shows. Friends from their college days at UC Santa Cruz, they've aged in the Bay like Humboldt fog blue, cultured a distinct sound and image, and developed an enthusiastic following.
They'll be sharing the stage at Leo's in Temescal this Saturday, Dec. 13 with a couple other acts; Kendra McKinley, a very talented singer-songwriter with an all-star backing band that includes members of Battlehooch and Guy Fox, is opening the show and shouldn't be missed. Closing out the night is Quinn DeVeaux and The Blue Beat Review, who effortlessly synthesize New Orleans soul, gospel, and R&B into a potent potion. Drink up, and follow the rabbit, or, as it were, the Bear.
