Born to Rock–Literally

Uriah Duffy was named after '70s rawk band Uriah Heep; his bother is reportedly named Yes, though there's no truth to the rumor his second cousin is named Jethro Tull. He's also the Bay Area's most badd-ass, best-kept secret. You've probably seen him bangin' his four-string bludgeon with Lyrics Born. Or Whitesnake. Or any one of a hundred bands.

Tonight his new outfit–featuring guitarist B'Nai Rebelfront (the Coup, Lyrics Born)–and members of Sly & the Family Stone/Graham Central Station–plays a slightly under-the-radar gig at the Boom Boom Room (in advance of an upcoming tour). Though billed as a solo set by Duffy, you can expect plenty of musical camaraderie, as well as funky basslines, rock star poses, and harmless mayhem.

Show details are here;  you can read all about Uriah's discography and check out his “axes” here; or check out some video footage of Uriah playing with Whitesnake in Argentina and with Lyrics Born on Jimmy Kimmel here. This could be the beginning of something big, so remember, ya heard it here first, boys and girls!
