Yesterday, we posted the facial-expression-inducing lineup for this year's Bridge School Benefit concert, where Neil Young and Stephen Stills will likely draw thousands of former Bay Area hippies with a Buffalo Springfield reunion. Today, another interesting piece of Bridge School news: the October 23 and 24 concert will apparently be the last live performance of Brooklyn orchestral pop outfit Grizzly Bear for “this year (and probably quite some time until a new album is released),” according to a post today on the band's Tumblr.
Grizzly Bear is returning to the studio to record a follow-up to last year's lauded Veckatimest, and has no live performance plans until that happens, apparently. This year the band performed on three continents, although not with the relentless fervor of fellow New Yorkers like the Hold Steady or even Vampire Weekend.
Grizzly Bear also plans to close up shop for the winter on Tumblr, warning fans that updates will be few and thanking them following the blog. Former/current hippies and Grizzly Bear fans, take note — Bridge School tickets go on sale at LiveNation this Sunday at 10 a.m.
