What's better than Oakland's favorite 10-piece Prince cover band helping you make the transition from Friday the 13th into Valentine's Day at Slim's? Why, Margaret Cho joining said cover band onstage, of course.
[jump] The Purple Ones, a party band if there ever was one, is the brainchild of Morty Okin (former co-founder of the Michael Jackson tribute Foreverland and the Neil Diamond tribute Superdiamond) and one of our favorite local guitarists, Roger Rocha (Four Non-Blondes).
S.F. native Cho, who most recently jammed out with Bob Mould and other local musicians during her “Be Robin” campaign for the homeless in December, is apparently also huge Prince fan (because of course she is). She's been known to join them onstage before (see below) — and all sources say it's a sight not to be missed. Tickets are still available for the show tonight, for $20 at the door.
